Dysregulation of endocannabinoid concentrations in human subcutaneous adipose tissue in obesity and modulation by omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids

چکیده

Abstract Obesity is believed to be associated with a dysregulated endocannabinoid system which may reflect enhanced inflammation. However, reports of this in human white adipose tissue (WAT) are limited and inconclusive. Marine long-chain omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (LC n-3 PUFAs) have anti-inflammatory actions therefore improve obesity-associated Therefore, acid (FA) concentrations, gene expression were assessed subcutaneous WAT (scWAT) biopsies from healthy normal weight individuals (BMI 18.5–25 kg/m2) living metabolically obesity 30–40 prior following 12-week intervention 3 g fish oil/day (1.1 eicosapentaenoic (EPA) + 0.8 DHA) or corn (placebo). had higher n-6 PUFAs EPA, concentrations two endocannabinoids (anandamide (AEA) eicosapentaenoyl ethanolamide (EPEA)), phospholipase A2 Group IID (PLA2G2D) IVA (PLA2G4A), lower CNR1. In response oil intervention, EPA increased similar extent both BMI groups, DHA by greater individuals. EPEA docosahexaenoyl (DHEA) only 2-arachidonyl glycerol (2-AG) decreased only. Altered acid, endocannabinoid, profiles at baseline linked. incorporates when their intake affects the system; however, effects appear than those obesity.

Evaluation of the Relationship between Endometriosis and Omega-3 and Omega-6 Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids

Background: Endometriosis is a common chronic inflammation causing major problems including infertility. The role of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids as their potential anti-inflammatory effects in endometriosis needs to be further explored. The objective of this study was to compare serum phospholipid fatty acid profile in endometriosis patients with controls, and to explore the correlation of ...

Omega-3 Fatty Acids and Obesity

Obesity rates continue rise to worldwide. In order to reduce the morbidity and mortality associated with obesity, as well as alleviate the impact on health care expenditures, the need for efficacious treatment strategies are in high demand. One promising approach is to include a diet high in “functional foods” into a weight loss regimen. Such foods provide an alternative to the limited number o...

Heterologous Reconstitution of Omega-3 Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids in Arabidopsis

Reconstitution of nonnative, very-long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acid (VLC-PUFA) biosynthetic pathways in Arabidopsis thaliana was undertaken. The introduction of three primary biosynthetic activities to cells requires the stable coexpression of multiple proteins within the same cell. Herein, we report that C22 VLC-PUFAs were synthesized from C18 precursors by reactions catalyzed by Δ(6)-desa...

The Role of Omega-3 Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids in Stroke

Stroke is the third commonest cause of death following cardiovascular diseases and cancer. In particular, in recent years, the morbidity and mortality of stroke keep remarkable growing. However, stroke still captures people attention far less than cardiovascular diseases and cancer. Past studies have shown that oxidative stress and inflammation play crucial roles in the progress of cerebral inj...

Dysregulation of the peripheral and adipose tissue endocannabinoid system in human abdominal obesity.

The endocannabinoid system has been suspected to contribute to the association of visceral fat accumulation with metabolic diseases. We determined whether circulating endocannabinoids are related to visceral adipose tissue mass in lean, subcutaneous obese, and visceral obese subjects (10 men and 10 women in each group). We further measured expression of the cannabinoid type 1 (CB(1)) receptor a...
